Resumen: The research competence of teachers from the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences of the North Technical University is studied based on the application of participant observation, surveys, interviews and document analysis. Theory analysis and the development of upgrading courses propitiated the remodeling of the research competence in the professional performance of teachers which is the objective of this paper. The results of the paper are revealed in the development of projects, the definition of a problem bank, the organization of scientific activity and the increase of scientific publications.
