Título: A non-invasive portable solution to estimate hemoglobin levels in the blood

Resumen: Hemoglobin (Hgb) is one of the most essential proteins in the body. Its principal function is to transport oxygen to vital organs and tissues so that they fulfill the necessary functions human life. In order to know the hemoglobin value in the blood, the invasive technique of extracting a blood sample and later evaluating it in a laboratory has traditionally been used. This process can cause discomfort in cases where it is performed repetitively in patients with sensitive skin, children, and the elderly. In addition, due to invasive procedures, there is a high risk of infection, and the analysis of these takes a long time. In this context, a non-invasive portable device capable of obtaining the amount of hemoglobin present in the blood through the implementation of pulse oximetry techniques is presented to provide an alternative for the evaluation of iron deficiency anemia and thus avoid the continuous application of methods that require frequent painful punctures and reduce the risk of infection. The device is based on applying intensity ratios of light absorption of the substance at different wavelengths through an optical pulse oximetry sensor connected to an ESP-32 micro-controller that displays the results on an OLED screen. The electronic system is coupled to a 3D model printed in PLA; its measurement area is based on commercial oximeter designs. Functional tests of the device were carried out with 29 users. The results showed an error of when comparing the prototype with a blood chemistry analysis sample.
