Resumen: The results of research presented by the scientific literature focus on the analysis of the knowledge of teachers. However, there are still untalled areas that focus on the implicit beliefs and theories that are part of the professor's thoughts. Therefore, the objective of this study is to establish the validity of construct and the reliability of the questions on the nature or origin of the academic knowledge of teachers of basic general education. The validity of the construct was carried out through 8 expert judges for the evaluation of 7 items. An exploratory factor analysis was carried out following the criteria of the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Coefficient (KMO) and the Bartlett sphericity test. The sample consisted of 27 teachers of basic general education in the Ibarra Canton, of both genders, with 40 years of average age and 12 years of teaching experience. The reliability analysis for the instrument obtained a Cronbach alpha of =0.704, considered acceptable. Bartlett's sphericity test showed that if there are significant correlations in the data and therefore, the values < 0.05 guarantee that the technique is adequate (p<0.000). While the measurement of KMO sample adequacy was =0,702. It can be said that the questionnaire is a relevant, valid and reliable instrument to determine the nature or origin of the academic knowledge of teachers of basic general education in a fast and reliable way
