Resumen: Resumen: El envejecimiento es una etapa de vida del ser humano que presenta cambios psicológicos, sociales, fisiológicos, así como el deterioro de sus capacidades físicas. En el Hogar del Anciano “San Vicente de Paúl” de la ciudad de Atuntaqui (Ecuador), los adultos mayores toman medicinas para tratar enfermedades como: la hipertensión arterial, artrosis, osteoporosis, deterioro cognitivo, depresión, hipotiroidismo, gastritis, anemia, entre otras. El personal médico al no llevar un registro de la posología de medicamentos en los horarios preestablecidos ha ocasionado retrasos, omisiones en los mismos y recaídas en su estado de salud. La presente investigación diseña y desarrolla un sistema embebido para controlar y monitorear el suministro de medicinas mediante dos tipos de notificaciones al departamento médico: en primera instancia por el envío de mensajes de texto vía GSM; al no existir respuesta se emite la segunda notificación por medio de una llamada de voz a la enfermera de turno con la finalidad de precautelar la ingesta adecuada de medicina y cumplir a cabalidad con los tratamientos prescritos por el médico y mejorar la calidad de vida del adulto mayor (3) (PDF) Medical dispenser of control and monitoring services for the elderly health care institute hogar del anciano “San Vicente de Paúl” from atuntaqui (Ecuador).
