Resumen: Nogal (Juglans neotropica Diels), is a native species highly appreciated in the forestry sector, due to its color and easy workability, which is why it is used for furniture, crafts, decorative coatings, among others. The objective of the research was: Determine the technological properties of Juglans neotropica Diels wood, from the province of Carchi, Ecuador. The study was carried out at the Yuyucocha Campus of the Universidad Técnica del Norte, in the city of Ibarra. The methodology presents a quantitative approach with a positivist paradigm and a descriptive and field type of research; In addition, a nonexperimental design was used based on the description of organoleptic, macro-anatomical, microanatomical characteristics and workability properties of the wood; Through simple convenience sampling, 7 walnut trees were selected in the cantons of San Pedro de Huaca and Tulcán in the province of Carchi, and 49 specimens were extracted for physical properties and 105 for workability tests; For the research tests, the methodology described in the COPANT, NTE-INEN and ASTM standards was used. As a result, a moisture content of 78.92%, basic density of 0.42 gr/cm3 , volumetric contraction of 14.16% and a Tangential/Radial ratio of 0.80% were obtained. In conclusion, “Juglans neotropica Diels” behaves well in the face of transformation processes, being classified as a wood intended for fine and decorative furniture work
