Resumen: The aim of this currect research was to describe the mission of the investments in the profitability of the ventures that operate around the Tecnica del Norte University, located in El Olivo neighbourhood. Through qualitative-quantitative research with a descriptive scope, a survey questionnaire can be used as a data collection tool that is applied to entrepreneurs of various activities such as: restaurants, hostels, stationery stores, among others that develop their business around this place, Entrepreneurships are an alternative to generate economic income and improve the standard of families living, in this context women unlike men are who undertake the most; Investments are mostly done individually and from whole families, in the development of their activities they seek to overcome the most frequent difficulties such as capital formation and financing, on the other hand from the management point of view few manage a cost register of production and operating expenses, being guided by experience when allocating resources to operate the different activities, such as the payment of personnel, among others. The investments in the ventures are identified by the good use of fixed and deferred assets and working capital, mostly of their own origin, this has had a positive impact on the level of profitability, the results of which despite the difficulties in the capital formation and financing have allowed the increase of working capital due to greater operating activity, the increase in profits due to higher sales volume has contributed to the purchase of new machinery, equipment, joint furniture and improvement of physical infrastructure, the benefits achieved have been potentiated by the strategic location around the higher education institution.
